~Eskies Prayers~

***********************

These next few prayers are from a page I found while I was looking for American Eskimo dogs, they were written by Kim Senke-Rocka @2000

~Mission Accomplished~

I was excited to be in the car with you.
But today was different.
When we got out of the car I could sense that something wasn't right.
You walked me toward a building I didn't want to go into.
I smelled fear there and death.
I cringed and urinated all over the floor, I couldn't help it.
I pushed against your leg, and pleaded with my heart.
Don't leave me here, please don't leave me here.
But you did and I don't know why.
Someone took me by my collar and dragged me to a cage.
And I shook. I heard whining and barking and pitiful meows.
I have never been this frightened in all my life.
Three days I have been here.
Someone took my picture, someone petted me through the cage.
A few smiling people came and took some dogs with them, but not me.
Now a worker comes to take me to a room.
There are many other dogs in this room, and we are all scared.
Some dogs go through a door but they don't come back.
The people here look very sad.
I don't want to stay here, but I do not want to go through that door.
There is fear here, and death.
Where are you my owner, my guardian?
How could you bring me here?
All I ever wanted to do was love you my whole life long.
Today I accomplished my mission.

~The Reason~

I would've died that day if not for you.
I would've given up on life if not for your kind eyes.
I would've used my teeth in fear if not for your gentle hands.
I would've left this life believing that all humans don't care.
Believing there is no such thing as fur that isn't matted.
Skin that isn't flea bitten.
Good food and enough of it.
Beds to sleep on.
Someone to love me.
To show me I deserve love just because I exist.
Your kind eyes, your loving smile, your gentle hands.
Your big heart saved me......
You saved me from the terror of the pound
Soothing away the memories of my old life.
You have taught me what it means to be loved.
I have seen you do the same for other dogs like me.
I have heard you ask yourself in times of despair.
Why you do it
When there is no more money, no more room, no more homes
You open your heart a little bigger, stretch the money a little tighter
Make just a little more room....
To save one more like me
I tell you with the gratitude and love that shines in my eyes.
In the best way I know how
Reminding you why you go on trying
I am the reason
The dogs before me are the reason

~A Dog's Prayer~

Treat me kindly, my beloved guardian
For no heart in all the world is more grateful for your love and kindess than mine.
Do not break my spirit with harsh words or with a stick, for although I would forgive you, I learn much better through your patience and understanding the things you would have me do.
Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when I hear you call my name.
Please want me with you always, for my joy springs from your attention, and I ask no greater glory than your love and the privilege of your company.
Please keep my bowl filled with fresh water, and feed me clean food that I may stay well to romp and play. I live to be with you and make you happy, to walk by your side, standing ready to protect you with my own life should your life be in danger.
And, dearest one, if my suffering is too great, please see that my leaving is gentle and loving, and that you stay with me to the very end as I have stayed with you.
My beloved guardian, I will give you all the love I have to give, and I will keep all the love you give to me.
I shall leave you then, knowing even in my sorrow, with the last breath I draw, that our time together was precious and beautiful, and that my life was always safe in your hands.
